Bangalore,
the garden city of India is already on the global map and has become
an important technology hub in the Asian sub-continent. The city
is an IT nerve centre and earned the sobriquet Silicon Valley of
Asia.
Over
2.5 Lakhs IT Professionals and over 103 Research and Development
Institutions are based here.(Source: The Times of India) The city
is also home to a number of science and research establishments
and educational institutions.
An
ideal eco system, the strong base of R & D Institutions set
up both by the Government and private sectors, highly skilled human
resources, cosmopolitan culture, very good climate and an Industry
– friendly policy of the State Government are the fundamentals
of Bangalore city which attract IT sector to get them to set up
here. Apart from these, the existence of large number of MNCs are
added attractions.
The availability of high tech professionals and the presence of
research institutes are the most important reason for the decision
of software firms to set up offices in Bangalore. The United Nations
ranked Bangalore as the fourth largest global hub of technological
innovation. The IT cluster in Bangalore is the biggest in India
and the fourth largest in the world, with nearly a third of these
companies located in Bangalore. ( Source : The Times of India)
There is one name to remember in these achievements of India i.e.,
Electronic City. Electronic City in Bangalore is the name behind
placing India on the world map of IT.
Electronic City – the software hub – has set a benchmark
in the industry with its contributions to the world of technology.
A number of major and minor software firms have set up office here.
Most of the major software companies like Infosys, Wipro, Satyam
and Siemens are operating from here. Atleast, over two lakhs employees
are working in Electronic City alone.
An
industry – friendly policy helps the Government to realize
the need for promoting towns and semi-urban centres around Bangalore.
A
lot of developments are going on in this area. Even there is non
availability of land nearby Electronic City areas atleast up to
five kilometer, a lot of residential enclaves and malls are coming
up. These areas are fast becoming self-contained enclaves as nobody
would want to travel all the way to Bangalore City just to shop.
Many
road projects around here are happening very quickly. Attibele –
Bommasandra – Vsrthur project, Attibele – Anekal –
Jigani project and NICE project from Mysore Road to Magadi Road
are some of them. Once the Attibele – Bommasandra –
Varthur stretch is completed, the traffic jams are likely to reduce.
Although
there is not much land available very close to Electronic City,
there are developments in the locality with apartments, paying guest
accommodations, hostels and other facilities available here. A number
of residential complexes are coming up here to cater to the growing
needs of people in and around Electronic City.
There
are residential enclaves in and around this area with facilities
like supermarkets, departmental stores, colleges, restaurants, hospitals,
etc., in close locality. Apartments and villas with world class
facilities, club house, gymnasium, gardens, swimming pool, multi
purpose hall, children’s play area, health club, 24 hours
security and power back up, etc. are available here.
Large retail stores and restaurants are looking forward to Electronic
City to set base to enhance the prospects for development and a
boom in these areas. Much work has already happened on the infrastructure
front in these areas. The infrastructure being planned here in terms
of roads will make things better.
