“Rei
– Ki” pronounced as “ray-key” are words
of Japanese origin. ‘Rei’ means ‘Cosmic or Universal’
and ‘Ki’ means ‘Life Force Energy’. ‘Rei
– ki’, in a way, is a method of healing.
What is the concept of Rei-ki and how it works?
There is Cosmic Life Force Energy always prevalent around us as
a cosmic truth in the form of Five elements or the ‘Pancha
Bhootha’. Our body is made up of the five elements and the
energy continuously keep flowing unseen, in constant tune or equilibrium
or wave length with the five elements outside our body. Any block
pr obstacle in the way obviously makes us fall sick or ill. At such
times, this ‘Cosmetic Life Force Energy’, if directed
properly into our body through the main seven ‘chakras’
inherent, the blockade is cleansed and the body is attuned or re-aligned
to have the free flow of energy from within and also from the outside
five elements. Then no disease, no pain and no illness.
In
the practice of Rei-ki, the hands are predominantly used to receive
the Cosmic Life Force Energy. Here one may get intrigued as how
‘hands’ play a major part in this healing. The answer
simply lies if we see around us. A child cries; mother picks up.
The cry instantly stops. How? The mother’s love and compassion
flows through her hands. A small girl beaten by her parent receives
solace in the hands of her grandpa. Here again the compassion works
wonders in all its gentility. Examples are umpteen. The doctor touches
us with hands before using any clinical tools. Many would agree,
that without advocacy of any medicines, mere visit to one’s
family physician alleviate ailments. Equally are we satisfied if
our known mechanic touch our vehicles for any fault and certify
‘no problem exists’. These are physical and emotional
cures. Whereas, in Rei-ki, besides physical and emotional cures,
spiritual cure also is possible.
In
our tradition we prostrate before elders and they bless us keeping
their hands on our heads. We see our gurus / acharyas and pictures
of Deities show their hands with palm facing us. It will either
be in anugraha or abhaya hastha posture. In Sruti – the Vedas,
under Taithiriya Samhita, in Sri Rudra Prachna, it goes like this
:
Ayam
mey hastho Bhagavan; Ayam mey Bhagavattharaha I
Ayam
mey Vishwa bhesha jhoyagum Shiva abhimarshanaha II
[These
hands of mine are God; These hands are more than Gods themselves;
(in that)
These hands are panacea to all living beings in the Universe;
(And more so) these (hands) only involve in the aradhana
of Lord Shiva.]
In
Rei-ki, through invoking prayer, the hands are thrown up
(reminder of total surrender) to get all the required strength
in order to ward off the miseries for whom prayed. Since
ages we pray to God Sun – the bestower of health:
Arogya Bhaskarath Ichheth thus proclaimed. He is described
as a ‘ball of fire’. In Rei-ki too, a dazzling
golden disc or silver jwala or jyothi is felt descended
upon himself by the practice. The light enters through head
and as water from the mountains enriches the soil enroute
before reaching the destination, the Rei-ki energy too here
cleanses the seven vital chakras before get accumulated
in the hands. The power of light combined with flawless
compassion do the wonders.
How
to receive the ‘Life Force Energy’
The
Rei-ki masters, called as Reiki Sensei, initiate the student
or give ‘deeksha’ after elaborating the basics,
use and usage of Rei-ki. Since Rei-ki is being nature in itself
and not a magic, any open question is answered by the masters.
However, for any art regular practice and the personal experience,
ie., ‘Saadhaka’ and ‘anubhoothi’ only
will stand to strength one’s belief. Daily practice
of Rei-ki is thus obvious. A routine meditation for sometime
before standing Rei-ki shall enhance once concentration and
observation of the passing of Rei-ki energy through the chakras.
Rei-ki should not be construed as meant for the sick and the
ailing. Healthy can also receive Rei-ki energy to remain healthier
– because Rei-ki is holistic health from panoramic sense.
Rei-ki can be performed for anyone apart from self. The specialty
being that the Rei-ki energy can be passed to any distance
through mind even to photographs, persons unseen with their
name written on a paper, pets, animate, inanimate, to any
intake (for removing toxins), besides exams, functions, dealings
etc. Rei-ki being positive energy, no harm, whatsoever, can
be done using it. Last, but not least, Rei-ki is akin to imparting
education to one. A teacher is never depleted of his depth
in knowledge by imparting education; so is the person passing
Rei-ki energy to others never loses out anything as it is
perennial.
Try
once. You will see for yourself of the immense benefits and
limitless possibilities the Rei-ki throws before you.
